Simple & Straightforward

Picked up the 'the curious incident of the dog in the night-time' by mark haddon at The Tango Mango Bookshop. And what a good read it was.

Its about a 15 year old autistic boy Christoper who went about trying to investigate the murderer of Wellington, his neighbour's dog.

I like it for its simple, honest and straightforward writing style. Supposedly in line with the thoughts of an autistic individual.

Its simplicity and straightforwardness is at times childlike (but not childish) and somewhat matter of fact (but not rude).

The explanation(s) appear logical but they only make sense to the autistic individuals.

I like to think I write in a simple, honest and straightforward way. Or at least, I am inspired to adopt this style of writing.

And maybe the autistic chaps are the 'normal' ones. They are simple, honest and straightforward whereas the rest of us * are often somewhat complicated, may tell a lie or two (or a white lie) and tend to think too much (or not).

* Realised the 'abnormal' me uses 'somewhat', 'may', 'tend to' when a 'normal' chap would likely go straight to the point, and in this context, 'complicated', 'dishonest' and 'longwinded'. :-)
