The things u hear about HR is true.

Background
I was going to ask for a transfer to another department. My then Boss told me however that he understands that my name has been put up in the pool of names for overseas posting. I find that rather puzzling as I just got back from an overseas posting. He advised that I check with HR but NOT to mention anything about the overseas pool as its confidential. I proceeded to consult my HR colleague, F.

Me : "Hi, I would like to apply for a transfer to X dept but I understand that the Board may have OTHER plans for me?"
F : "Let me get back to you."

A day later.

F : "Hi, please proceed with your application for transfer. The Board HAS NO PLANS FOR YOU."

Me : "Good to know that (I can transfer out)"

My real thoughts : "OUCH OUCH OUCH!! Man you could be less frank frankly!"
